A lot of us amateurs get addicted to this facet of our hobby. I am no exception. The technology we have access to is quite amazing. The eye is a rather poor detector of light at night and so objects in space such as galaxies look rather disappointing to the eye even in very large telescopes! The larger the telescope the bigger the fuzzy patch! People don’t realize that when you look through an eyepiece at many of these things you are not going to see what you see in a fully processed Hubble image. Sorry! But put a digital camera on the end of your telescope and in a few seconds or minutes you can see right on your laptop incredible details that the eye can not even imagine!
